French Competition Authority Gave His Green Light To The Takeover Of Solairedirect By Engie

In a decision dated July 30, 2015, the Competition Authority approved the takeover of Solairedirect, a company specialized in solar power, by Engie (ex GDF Suez).

In fact, the two companies’ activities on the electricity market are similar and complementary.

Competition Authority’s position is that solar energy market competition would not be affected by this operation, because the parties’ combined market share remains very limited.

Indeed, Engie’s share in generation and wholesale of electricity is modest.

As a result, Competition Authority declared that the takeover doesn’t involve a risk of vertical overlap between generation and photovoltaic power plants markets.
