EDF, the French energy company, and Areva, the French civil nuclear giant, have signed a memorandum of understanding on July 30, 2015. According to that memorandum, EDF will acquire a majority stake in the nuclear company Areva NP (51 to 75% of the share capital).
It would bring in 2 billions euros of fresh money for Areva.
The Chairman of Areva NP will be Bernard Fontana, the former CEO of the former swiss cement company Holcim.
